“Mustard Seed Faith”
Scripture: Matthew 17:20
 
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
 
Devotion:
After His disciples failed to heal a boy, Jesus pointed not to their lack of effort, but to their lack of faith. He then used a powerful illustration: the mustard seed, one of the smallest seeds, yet it is capable of growing into something great. Jesus was teaching that it’s not the size of our faith that matters most, but the presence and how we apply it. Faith, even when it is small, becomes powerful when it is placed in our great God. Mountain-moving faith is not about commanding God to do our will, but it is about trusting Him enough to believe that He can do what may seems to us to be impossible. The mountains in our lives can represent fear, doubt, sickness, broken relationships, or other overwhelming circumstances -- Jesus gives us the assurance that faith rooted in Him has the power to overcome them all.

This verse also reminds us that faith grows. That mustard seed of faith can mature as we trust God, obey His Word, and walk with Him through trials. In every step of faith that we experience, whether it be healing from sickness, restoration of a job, or healed relationships; our confidence in His ability and His timing strengthens the faith that we have in Him.

So, when doubt creeps its ugly head, and tries to make you believe that your situation is too big or too broken, remember that God only needs us to have a mustard seed of faith surrendered to Him to work wonders. Try Him today and see!

Prayer:
Lord, We ask that You teach us to believe You when situations seem impossible, and help us to rest in Your power and not in our limitations, knowing that our faith will grow as we trust in You more. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
