“Decide to Be Whole”
Scripture: John 5:6; John 15:4

“When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?”
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me."

Devotion:
Wholeness begins with a decision.

In John 5:6, Jesus confronts a man who had been stuck for 38 years. His condition was long, his excuses understandable, his disappointment deep. Yet Jesus asked a piercing question: “Wilt thou be made whole?” Not, “Do you want relief? ”Not, “Do you want comfort?” But “Do you want wholeness?”

Wholeness requires responsibility. It requires a shift from rehearsing the problem to responding to the promise. The man had to stop blaming the crowd, the system, and the missed moments. When he answered the call of Christ, healing followed his obedience: “Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.”

But John 15:4 teaches us something even deeper. Wholeness is not a one-time miracle—it is a maintained relationship. “Abide in me.” To abide means to remain, to dwell, to stay connected. A branch cannot be whole apart from the vine. Strength, fruitfulness, and stability flow from connection.

You can be healed and still disconnected. You can have a moment and miss the maintenance. Jesus is not only asking if you want to be made whole; He is inviting you to remain whole through abiding.

Today, decide:

• To stop living in yesterday’s condition.
• To answer Christ’s question with faith.
• To stay connected to the One who restores you.

Wholeness is not just getting up—it’s staying connected.

Prayer:
Lord, I choose wholeness. Heal the places where I have been stuck and help me to abide in You daily. Teach me to remain in Your presence so that my healing becomes fruitfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
