Daily Devotional - Seeing Beyond What Is: The Vision - Week 41 - Day 282 - 10/9/26 - "Look Up and Trust Him"

Author: Evangelist Crystal Poston

“Look Up and Trust Him”
Scripture: Genesis 13:14

“And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:”

Devotion:
This Scripture speaks of God telling Abram to lift up his eyes and look in every direction at the land He was showing him after his separation from his nephew Lot. God was teaching him not to allow his present position to limit his vision of what He could do. While Abram could not see everything that was ahead, God could.

In light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this message is profound for someone walking through a breast cancer journey.  It is a powerful reminder that your diagnosis is not the whole story that God sees for your life.

As a breast cancer survivor, I am a witness that the very moment you get a diagnosis, your world can suddenly seem very small. Your thoughts may become consumed with test results, treatments, appointments, surgeries, medications, and even the possibility of a terminal outcome. I can testify that the story does not have to end where the diagnosis begins. God has carried me through, and my testimony is a reminder that we can trust Him. While cancer may be part of your current journey, it does not define who you are. You are still God’s beloved child. Your worth has not changed. Your future is still held in God’s hands. He is in Control.  While there may be days when lifting your eyes feels impossible, it is on those days that you don't have to pretend to be strong. You can simply whisper, “Lord, help me look to You.”

Fear can make it difficult to see beyond today. But in Genesis 13:14, God tells Abram, “Lift up your eyes and look...”   God was asking Abram to look beyond what was immediately in front of him. What he could see with his natural eyes may not have looked promising, but God, the Promise-Giver, had already gone before him and had something greater in store.  God invites us to do the same.  So, as we walk through difficult seasons, let us lift our eyes above the diagnosis, above the uncertainty, and above our fears. Let us look to God, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). We may not know what the next chapter holds, but we know the One who holds our future.

Prayer:
Lord, when fear tries to make my world seem small, help me lift my eyes to You. Give me courage for each appointment, strength for each treatment, and peace when I face things I cannot control. Comfort me when I am afraid, surround me with people who will encourage me, and help me trust You one day at a time. Whatever tomorrow holds, help me and my family members to remember that You are with us always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
