“A Prepared Place”
Scripture: John 14:1-3, NIV

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
 
Devotion:
In today’s Scripture, Jesus is preparing His disciples for His crucifixion and ascension at the Last Supper. He encourages them not to feel discouraged or dismayed by His ascension to heaven but to maintain their faith by believing in Him and the Father. Furthermore, He lets them know He is going away to prepare a place for them. The good news doesn’t stop there, but He also lets them know that He was going to return. At His return, they would be able to go back to glory with Him.

This world is not our home. It’s just a stopover to our final destination. We are living to live again. Many times we forget we are spiritual beings having a natural experience, and not natural beings having a spiritual experience. Our physical bodies are going back to the earth, but our spirit is going to live forever. The good news is that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we get to live with Him for eternity. What a blessing to know that one day we will worship, praise, and be in the presence of our Savior forever. There is a prepared place waiting for you and me. But while we’re down here, we want to make sure that we are about our Father’s business. We want to let our lights shine so someone else can experience the joy of the Lord and make it to that prepared place.

Prayer:
Thank You God, for preparing a place just for me. Thank You for saving and redeeming me back to You. Help me follow Your spirit instead of my own desires. Amen.
