“Active Duty - Standfast”
Scripture: Galatians 5:1

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
 
Devotion:
Paul’s words in Galatians 5:1 are both a celebration and a warning. A celebration because Christ has made you free — fully, completely, and intentionally. A warning because freedom must be guarded.

The enemy loves to pull believers back into old patterns: guilt, fear, legalism, insecurity, comparison, or the pressure to earn God’s approval. These are the “yokes of bondage” Paul speaks of — heavy, restrictive, suffocating burdens that Christ already broke off your life.

But Paul says, “Stand fast.” That means:

• Plant your feet in truth.
• Refuse to negotiate with old chains.
• Stay anchored in grace.
• Remember who you are and whose you are.

Freedom in Christ is not fragile. It doesn’t depend on your perfection. It doesn’t disappear when you struggle. It is rooted in His finished work, not your fluctuating feelings.
Standing fast is an active posture — a daily choice to remain in what Christ has already done.

Application:

• Identify one “yoke” trying to pull you back — fear, shame, people-pleasing, old habits.
• Speak truth over it: “Christ has made me free.”
• Practice standing firm by choosing grace over guilt and faith over fear.
• Walk today with the confidence of someone who is already liberated.

 
Takeaway: 
Christ didn’t just offer freedom — He secured it. Your role now is to stand firm in that freedom and refuse to return to anything that once held you captive.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the freedom You purchased for me. Help me to stand firm in that liberty and refuse anything that tries to pull me back into bondage. Strengthen my heart, steady my mind, and keep me anchored in Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
