“When Effort Doesn't Bring Results”
Scripture: Isaiah 17:11

“In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.”
 
Devotion:
Isaiah 17:11 paints a sobering picture. The people worked hard, planted carefully, and watched their crops grow. Everything appeared successful. Yet when harvest time came, their efforts produced disappointment instead of blessings.

This verse reminds us that success is not determined solely by our hard work, planning, or abilities. While diligence is important, our ultimate dependence must be on God. When we place our trust in ourselves, our resources, or our strategies rather than in Him, we can discover that even our best efforts cannot guarantee the results we desire.

How often do we become consumed with achieving goals while neglecting our relationship with God? We may work tirelessly to build careers, relationships, ministries, or financial security, yet forget the One who provides true blessings and lasting fruit.

God desires that we seek Him first. When our lives are rooted in Him, our work gains eternal purpose. The greatest harvest is not found in worldly success but in a life that faithfully depends on the Lord.

Application:
Take time today to evaluate where you are placing your trust. Are you relying primarily on your own efforts, or are you seeking God's guidance and blessing? Commit your plans, goals, and future into His hands, trusting Him with both the process and the outcome.

Today's Thought:
Hard work is valuable, but lasting fruit comes from a life rooted in God.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gifts, abilities, and opportunities You have given me. Forgive me for the times I rely on my own strength instead of trusting You. Help me to seek You first in every area of my life. May my efforts be guided by Your wisdom and empowered by Your grace. Produce fruit in my life that honors You and lasts for eternity. In Jesus' name, Amen.
