“Living Water”
Scripture: John 7:37-39, NIV

“On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’ By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not been glorified.”

Devotion:
If you’ve been thirsty before, then you know the soothing feeling that comes when you get a cold drink of water, and it immediately quenches your thirst. You take big gulps of water until your stomach feels heavy and full. Well, guess what H2O ain’t got nothing on the Living Water!

In today’s Scripture, Jesus was letting the people know that the water He was going to give them would cause them never to thirst again. That water is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is fulfilling, sustaining, long-lasting, and replenishing. He never runs out. He’s a renewing spring of life that continuously and freely flows. We are beyond blessed that not only did our Savior redeem us back to God, but He also gave us the gift of sustaining power to keep us connected to God. We don't have to walk alone; we have the gift of the Holy Spirit leading and guiding us every step of the way. We have Living Water! Once you drink from this fountain, you won’t ever thirst again!

Prayer:
God, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit that leads me, corrects me, keeps me, sustains me, and daily replenishes me. Help me continue to be led by Your Spirit and not the desires of my flesh. Amen.
