“Produced Inwardly, Seen Outwardly”
Scripture: Romans 2:29, NKJV

“but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.”

Devotion:
Romans 2:29 reminds us that God has always been after the heart, not the performance. Paul tells us that true identity in God isn’t found in outward rituals, religious labels, or human approval — it’s found in an inward work of the Holy Spirit. Circumcision of the heart means God cuts away what doesn’t belong: old attitudes, hidden sins, stubborn pride, and anything that keeps us from loving Him fully. It’s not a physical mark; it’s a spiritual transformation.

This verse invites us to examine not what people see, but what God sees. We can look religious on the outside and still be resistant on the inside. We can impress people and still be unchanged before God. But when the Spirit works in the heart, the change is real, deep, and lasting. It produces sincerity, humility, obedience, and love — the kind of fruit that cannot be faked.

And then Paul gives us a beautiful promise: the person whose heart is transformed receives praise not from people, but from God. Imagine that — the God of the universe noticing your heart, smiling over your obedience, and calling your transformation beautiful. His approval matters more than any applause earth can offer.

Today, ask the Lord to continue His inward work in you. Let Him cut away what doesn’t belong. Let Him soften what has grown hard. Let Him shape your heart into something that reflects His character. True change begins where no one else can see — but it produces a life everyone can see.

Prayer:
Lord, work in my heart today. Remove anything that keeps me from You. Shape me inwardly by Your Spirit, and let my life reflect Your love, Your humility, and Your truth. I seek Your approval above all else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
