“It’s a Heart Check, Not a Background Check”
Scripture: Acts 15:9

“And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.”

Devotion:
Acts 15:9 is a quiet but powerful reminder of the way God sees people. In a moment when the early church wrestled with division — Jew and Gentile, insiders and outsiders, tradition and new believers — God made His heart unmistakably clear: He makes no distinction. The same grace that saved one group saved the other. The same faith that purified one heart purified the other. In Christ, the walls people build simply do not stand.

This verse tells us something beautiful about God’s work in us: He purifies our hearts by faith. Not by background. Not by performance. Not by religious history. Faith is the great equalizer. Faith is the doorway. Faith is the cleansing agent that washes away guilt, shame, and the residue of our past. When God looks at His children, He doesn’t see categories — He sees hearts made clean through Jesus.

And this truth calls us to live differently. If God makes no difference between “us and them,” then neither should we. The gospel invites us to see people through God’s eyes — not through labels, assumptions, or divisions. Every person you meet is someone Christ died for. Every believer you encounter is someone God purified by faith, just like He purified you.

Today, let Acts 15:9 soften your heart. Let it remind you that grace levels the ground, faith cleanses the heart, and God’s love reaches farther than our boundaries. Ask Him to help you see others the way He sees them — equally loved, equally welcomed, equally cleansed.

Lord, thank You for purifying my heart by faith. Help me see others the way You do — without division, without judgment, and without distinction. Make my heart tender, my love wide, and my spirit welcoming, just as Yours is. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
