“His Grace Did It All”
Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Devotion:
These verses remind us of one of the most powerful truths in the Bible, salvation is a gift. We did not earn it. We do not deserve it. We cannot work for it. God, in His mercy and because He loves us, He freely gives it. Good works are not the root of our salvation; they are the fruit of it.

Grace means unmerited favor. By our faith, and just trusting in Jesus, we receive what He already accomplished on the cross. Our good works, church attendance, kindness, or efforts cannot gain us salvation. If they could, it would give us a reason to boast. But God designed salvation so that all glory belongs to Him alone.

When we pause to truly consider God’s grace, the only appropriate response is humility. It humbles us because we recognize that nothing we have done could ever earn us salvation. And yet, at the same time, we are grateful because we realize the value of what we’ve been given.  “We can truly say, Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.” (Psalm 145:3)

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of grace. Thank You that I am saved not because of anything I have done or because of my character, but it is all because of Your love and mercy. I know that I could never earn what You have freely given through Your son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
