“Grace That Overflows”
Scripture: Romans 5:20

“The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,”

Devotion:
Paul, in this letter to the Romans, explains that the law made people more aware of their sin. By showing God’s perfect standard, the law revealed how far humanity had fallen short. Instead of fixing the problem of sin, it exposed it. Paul says that where sin increased, grace increased all the more. No matter how great the failure, God’s grace is greater. No matter how deep the brokenness, His mercy reaches deeper. This does not mean that sin is acceptable or that it should be taken lightly. Rather, it shows the incredible power of God’s forgiveness. Grace is not limited by human weakness or failure. God’s grace is abundant, overflowing beyond the boundaries of our mistakes.

Many people carry guilt from past sins and feel that they are too far gone to receive God’s forgiveness. But this verse reminds us that there is no sin greater than God’s grace. Through Jesus Christ, God offers redemption, restoration, and new life. When we understand this truth, it changes how we live. Instead of being trapped in shame, we can walk in freedom. Instead of hiding from God, we can run toward Him, knowing His grace is greater than our sin. God’s grace does not just cover our past—it transforms our future. It invites us to live a new life marked by gratitude, faith, and obedience.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the incredible gift of Your grace. When I think about my failures and shortcomings, I am reminded of how much I need Your mercy. Thank You for loving me beyond my failures and offering me new life through Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
