“Justified by Grace”
Scripture: Romans 3:23-24

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”

Devotion:
Romans 3:23 reminds us of one of the most important things in our life - we have fallen short of God’s glory through sin. There is nothing we can do on our own to fix that broken relationship. But thanks be to God! Because in the very next scripture, the blessings of God shine bright in our lives - we are “justified freely by His grace”. To be justified means to be declared righteous before God. It is a legal term that describes being cleared of guilt. We didn’t earn it, we can’t pay for it, we can’t do enough good deeds for it - it is given freely by God.

That freely given gift didn’t come without sacrifice. It came through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross in our place. Because of His death AND resurrection, we now have a bridge to fix our broken relationship with God. Instead of death and shame, which is what we deserved, we now can live humbly, grateful and confident in our Blessed Hope - Jesus Christ. Today, remember, you didn’t earn the grace, Jesus sacrificed so that you would have access to grace.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of grace through Jesus Christ. Thank You for justifying me freely through the redemption found in Him. Let Your grace shape my heart, guide my actions, and remind me daily that my hope is found in Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
