"The Gift of Love”
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:2, NIV
 
“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”

Devotion:
God is love. If we say we are the children of God, then our actions, words, and lives should show God’s love. God’s love is unconditional, sacrificial, eternal, patient, kind, and all-encompassing. I don’t care how many gifts or talents we have; if we don’t have the love of God flowing from our hearts for everyone, we are nothing. God commanded us to love; therefore, love is our standard. We can’t match energy. We can’t go tit for tat. We have to show love.

In the 1990s, it was a huge trend for people to walk around with bracelets, t-shirts, car tags, etc. that said WWJD? Well, guess what? That still applies in our daily lives. In the chaos of this world, when I find my joy lacking and my peace disturbed, I have to remember the greatest gift, the ultimate gift of love that God gave us all, His Son Jesus. Now and then we have to do a heart check and ask ourselves, what would Jesus do?

Prayer:
Lord, help us love unconditionally like You love. Help us forgive like You forgive. Cleanse us from the inside out so that our hearts are right. Amen.
