“The Gift of the Holy Spirit”
Scripture: Acts 2:38, NIV

“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Devotion:
God is so good that not only did He redeem us back to Him, but He also gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit through His Son Jesus. I couldn't imagine trying to live this life without the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides us, reminds us of God’s Word, and He convicts us when we get out of order. The Holy Spirit is also a comforter to us in times of distress.
In today's Scripture, Peter had just delivered his powerful Sermon on the Mount, and it touched the people's hearts. They wanted to know what they had to do to be saved. Peter let them know that first they had to repent, which meant they had to turn away from their sin. Then, they must be baptized to symbolize their new covenant relationship with God. Finally, he told them once they had done these things, they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. God is so good to us. He said not only am I going to send them a Savior to redeem them back to Me, but I am also going to give them a part of Myself to live within them and guide them in My ways. Thank You Jesus! We serve an awesome God!

Prayer:
Thank You God, for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help us walk in obedience to Your will and purpose for our lives. Amen.
