“The Favor of Gifts”
Scripture: Proverbs 18:16

“A man’s gifts maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”

Devotion:
God has given every one of us gifts, talents, and abilities. It is up to us to choose how we use these gifts. We can actively put them to use, or we can allow them to lie dormant and useless. Today’s Scripture lets us know the power and favor of using our gifts. When we choose to use the gifts God has given us, it opens doors for us that would have otherwise been closed. It places us in situations and in front of people that to some would seem impossible, but God! There is favor in using our God-given talents and abilities for kingdom-building business.

The parable of the talents is a great example of the importance of using our spiritual gifts. The two servants who invested their talents reaped the benefits of their faith, and they received even more opportunities. However, the one who hid his talent allowed fear and inaction to hinder him, and he received nothing at all. What talent, gift, or ability has God given you? Are you using it, or are you hiding it away? God expects a return on the investments He has placed in us. Every gift, talent, and ability He has placed in us is for His glory and purpose, and we can’t hide or deny them.

Prayer:
Lord, help us use our spiritual gifts with faith and boldness. Help us honor You by walking obediently to the purpose You have placed in our lives. We give You the glory and the honor that is due to You. We bless and praise Your holy name! Amen.
