“The Spirit’s Power at Work”
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:9–10, NIV

“To another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, 10 to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.”

Devotion:
Paul continues his list of spiritual gifts, reminding us that the Spirit empowers believers in diverse and extraordinary ways. Faith here is not just saving faith, but a Spirit-given confidence that God will act. Healing and miracles demonstrate God’s compassion and authority over sickness and nature. Prophecy brings God’s truth to His people, while discernment protects the church from deception. Tongues and interpretation highlight the Spirit’s ability to transcend human language and unite believers in worship.

The key is that all these gifts come from the same Spirit. They are not for personal prestige but for building up the body of Christ. Diversity of gifts reflects the richness of God’s grace, and each one is vital for the health and mission of the church.

Application:

• Trust God’s power: Pray boldly for healing, provision, or miracles in situations that seem impossible.

• Speak truth: Use your words to encourage, correct, or comfort in line with God’s Word.
• Practice discernment: Test what you hear and see against Scripture and the Spirit’s guidance.
• Celebrate diversity: Recognize and affirm the different gifts at work in your community.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for the gifts You pour out on Your people. Help me to honor the diversity of Your work and to use whatever gift You have entrusted to me for the good of others. Keep me humble, discerning, and faithful, so that Your power may be seen in my life and in the church. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
