Daily Devotional - Spiritual Gifts - Week 49 - Day 338 - 12/4/25 - "Uniquely Gifted"

“Uniquely Gifted”
 Scripture: 1 Corinthians 7:7, NIV

“I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.”

Devotion:
In this verse, Paul reminds us that every one of us have a unique gift from God. He does not place one gift over the other, we must be confident in knowing that God gives His gifts with intention.  In this chapter, Paul was teaching about marriage, but let’s focus on verse 7 where he discusses the gifts from God. We know that someone may be strong in leadership, and another may have the gift of tongues. We may even know people who are very compassionate, then there are others who operate with much wisdom. The gifts are different, but each of them is valuable for kingdom building.

Sometimes we compare ourselves to others or wish we were given different gifts. But we have to trust that God, in His divine wisdom, knows exactly what He’s doing. The gifts we have are purposeful. They fit our calling, our season, and the impact God wants to make through our lives.

Paul shows us in this Scripture that as children of God, we are not called to be all the same. The church needs each person to operate in the purpose that God has given them without doubt, shame or jealousy of others’ gifts.  When we are truly working in our gift, we will not have time to concentrate on the gift of others, but we will be able to show God that we are thankful for our own gifts; trusting that He has equipped us with exactly what He has called us to.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gifts You have placed within us. Help us to see them as intentional, valuable, and purposeful. Free us from comparison and teach us to walk confidently in what You have given us. Help us to honor the gifts in others as well, so that we can represent Your Kingdom well together. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
