“When God Doesn’t Change His Mind
Scripture: Romans 11:29

“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
 
Devotion:
In this world we find that commitments change, people shift, and circumstances can alter our plans overnight. In this Scripture, Paul reminds us that God is not like us! No, when He gives a gift, it is not taken back. When He calls someone, He doesn’t change His mind. God’s purpose stands firm, even when we feel unqualified, uncertain, or ill-prepared.

A lot of times, we wrestle with doubt, asking ourselves “Am I in the place that God planned for me?” or “Have I messed up too much for God to use me?” But Romans 11:29 speaks directly into our uncertainties. It lets us know that the gifts God gives do not expire, fade, or fall apart because of our weaknesses.

His gifts were intentionally placed in us. And His call, whether it is to serve, to lead, to encourage, to create, or to love remains on our lives even when we feel far from it. God’s plans are based on His sovereignty, not our perfection. He does not change His mind about us!

When we feel that we are not living up to the gift that God has for our lives, remember that God has not forgotten what He spoke over us. We must seek Him daily for the answer to continually walk, with obedience, in the calling He has placed on our lives.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that Your gifts and calling in our lives are firm and unchanging. Even when we feel unsure or unworthy, You remain firm. Help us to trust Your purpose for us and walk boldly in what You have spoken over our lives. Give us courage to pursue Your calling with confidence, knowing that You never take back what You have given. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
