“Tell of His Marvelous Works”
 Scripture: Psalm 9:1

“I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.”

Devotion:
When we read this Psalm, we notice that David declares that he will thank the Lord with all his heart. His gratitude is sincere and intentional. He is giving thanks to God not only for what God has done, but for who He is.

This Psalm is a reminder for us that even when thoughts of doubt, despair, or loneliness creep up, we must still build up the strength to praise the Lord. If we just pause and remember the wonderful things God has done for us, then showing gratitude becomes the norm, and we will be able to praise the Lord all year long, not only during this time of year. During this season of Thanksgiving, we find people being kinder, showing gratitude and getting together for festivities. We should be reminded that even when circumstances shift, God’s character remains constant, faithful, and He is always with us.

David also said in this Psalm, “I will tell of all Your miraculous works,” this means that we are to testify of the goodness of the Lord. Yes, we can praise God in the privacy of our own homes, but it becomes even more effective when we share of His goodness with others. It will encourage others, strengthen our faith, and give glory to God, where it’s due. Testifying of God’s faithfulness, whether He has done something big or small, might just be the spark that someone else needs to have hope again.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You with all our heart! Help us to see Your hand at work in our lives and to never overlook Your goodness. Give us boldness to share Your wonderful works so that others may be encouraged. Teach us to live each day with a grateful and wholehearted spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
