“I Am a Child of God”
Scripture: Romans 8:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Devotion:
There’s a song that I came across some years back during a time in my life that I had hit rock bottom. The song is called, “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel Music. The whole song itself is powerful, but the words that stuck out to me the most say, “I’m no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.” One may think that fear has nothing to do with condemnation, but I implore you to think otherwise. When you have sinned and have that burden, you do carry fear. Fear of it getting exposed, fear of not walking in full deliverance, fear of so many things. But when you have taken that burden to God, left it there, and walked on, then you realize that you have nothing to fear, because you are God’s child. Today’s text reminds me of this song. When we walk after the things of God and become His children, we no longer are slaves to the fear or sin that burdens us, we experience freedom like no other. You can’t hold it over your head. In fact, no one can hold it over your head! So remember, walk after God’s Spirit and live without condemnation. Tell yourself, “I am a child of God!”

Prayer:
Jesus, we thank You for erasing all fear and condemnation from us. Teach us to continue to walk after Your Spirit, because we know we are Your children. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
