"Open the Gates”
Scripture: Psalm 118:19, NIV
 
“Open for me the gates of the righteous; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord.”
 
Devotion:
What I really love about my Savior is that I have access to seek Him anytime I want. Think about this, the more we seek Him, the more He makes Himself known to us. We do ourselves a disservice when we don’t diligently seek His face. Praise and worship are foundational to our Christian walk.

The book of Psalms is attributed to King David. One thing David knew how to do was praise and glorify God. In today’s Scripture, David is asking for the chance to enter into God’s presence so that he could worship Him and give Him thanks. You see David despite his shortcomings knew the importance of seeking God. That is why I believe God was able to call him a man after His own heart. David knew how to repent, consecrate himself, and press into the presence of God. He didn’t care about being dignified or pleasing others. He cried out to God until his change would come.

God desires to take us from glory to glory, there is no limit to Him. We are the ones that decide to put limits on how God moves and operates in our lives due to our disobedience or lack of faithfulness. But saints of God, I don’t know about you, but it is my desire to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. I truly believe that we are going to live to see it happen. We can’t stop praising, and we can’t stop thanking God. He is worthy to be praised!

Prayer:
Lord, help us to press into Your presence. We desire more of You and less of ourselves. Help us to seek You the more and walk in obedience to the purpose You have placed in our lives. Help us to continue to have praise in our hearts and thanksgiving on our lips. Amen.
