“Sacrifice of Praise”
Scripture: Hebrews 13:15, NIV

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name..”

Devotion:
What does it mean to sacrifice? If we are being honest, when we hear that word, it doesn't always sound good to us. Because it means that we have to give something up that means something to us. That means that sometimes we have to give up natural things like sleep, time, and our own will to gain spiritual things like faith, wisdom, and peace. Jesus took our place as the ultimate sacrifice. He did what no other could do, He crucified flesh in the flesh and redeemed us back to God. There has never been or will never be any greater sacrifice than His, and because He lives we can live abundantly. One way to do that is through our praise.

Today’s Scripture is asking us through Jesus, to "continually" offer a sacrifice of praise to God. That means Lord I will praise You in the good times, Lord I will praise You in the bad times. Lord I will praise You in the valley low, and Lord I will praise You on the mountain top. Praise is what I do, and I will do it continually! When I open my mouth, I will profess Your name. Jesus is calling us higher saints. We have to get to the secret place in God that declares and decrees that for God I live and for God I die. I don’t care about the divisive and secular worldviews that exist; I want to do God’s will. I will bless the Lord at all times, and His praises shall continue to be in my mouth. I dare you to take a few minutes and give God a radical praise right now where you are until His joy, His peace, His love overflows in Your heart. The more we praise Him the better we feel!

Prayer: 
Lord, when I open my mouth let it be to give You the praise. Help me to give You the sacrifice of praise due to You. When I open my mouth, let it be to speak life and say thank You Lord, You’ve been so good to me. Amen.
