“Comfort in the Valley”
 Scripture: Psalm 23:4
 
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Devotion:
In this verse, we are not promised that our lives will be free from dark valleys. It says that there will be valleys of the shadow of death; like sorrow, sickness, or uncertainty of healing. Yes we all will walk through them at some point. But David in this verse declares, “I will fear no evil.” Why is this? Because God is with him, and He is with us and will be with us every day of our lives also.  His Word says that God is with us to protect and comfort us with His rod and His staff. We serve a loving Father who never abandons His sheep.

When you are walking through a dark valley, whether it be spiritually, emotionally, or physically, draw closer to God; because while He doesn't always remove the valley of illness, discouragement, or defeat, He will walk you through that journey. It is at those times that God's presence should become more personal to us!  So, let us purpose in our hearts and minds that, where He is, fear must lose its grip!

Prayer:
Lord, even when the path seems dark, we trust that You are with us. Thank You for guiding us, protecting us, and comforting us through any journey we go through. Help us to rest in Your presence and remember that no valley is too deep for Your love to reach. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
