“God is Always Near”
Scripture: Isaiah 43:2
 
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
 
Devotion:
We are not promised a storm-free path in life. The Word of God does not say “If” you face trials, but it says, “When.”  In today’s Scripture, Isaiah reassures the Israelites that the waters, rivers, and fire, which represent some of the difficult times they were facing, would not be faced alone.  This Scripture is extended to us as believers today.  While we will face many struggles in our lives, we have this Promise, that we will not be alone, God will be with us.

Isaiah 43:2 gives us hope.  God did not say He would pull us out of every hard place, He says that He will walk through them with us. Yes, we might feel the pressure, the heat, and the struggle but He promises in His Word that waters won’t drown us nor will fire destroy us. A profound example of God’s promise can be found in Daniel 3:25 where Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace but were not burned because God was with them. We must find comfort and strength in knowing that God is with us when we are experiencing sickness, grieving, or even struggling with fear.  God is always there. He is our healer, protector, provider and so much more.  Remember during this month of Breast Cancer Awareness that God has the final say!

Prayer:
Father, we thank You for being with us in the deep waters and in the fire. Remind us that no matter what we face, You are near. Strengthen our hearts to trust You, and help us to walk through every storm knowing we are never alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
