“Rest in Christ”
 Scripture: Matthew 11:28, NIV

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Devotion:
Rest is a very important component as we journey through this life. Without rest, it is challenging to show up and face our daily tasks with full energy and focus. Rest is designed to be vital for our physical and mental health and even helps with our immune system. Most times when we think of the word rest, we think sleep, but have you ever been tired, tried to go to sleep and still didn’t get rest?

Without having God to go to, cry out to, and talk to, I probably would never actually get rest. When God steps in, He starts His work on the inside. It’s not just “close your eyes and go to sleep.” God wants to know what’s hurting you, what’s on your mind that you can’t express to others; whatever it may be, He wants to be right there with you. Not only does He want to be there, but He would like to make an exchange. He would like to exchange your worries, stressors, things you cannot control, things you can’t let go, and He would like for you to simply, rest in Him. Let Him do the work!

Prayer:
Father, we thank You. We thank You for being our place of rest, peace, and understanding. We thank You for being our burden bearer and heavy load sharer. Continue to remind us that we can come to You with anything that we are facing or dealing with, because You know exactly what to do with it. Help us to trust and depend on You for all that we need whether it be physically or emotionally. Help us continue to keep You first in our lives and find peace in knowing that You are in control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
