“I Need You to Survive”
Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”

Devotion:
There was a popular gospel song that Bishop Hezekiah Walker came out with some years ago. Today’s Scripture reminds me of this particular song because it mentions how much we need each other to survive. The song encourages us to stand and agree together because we need each other to survive. This is a form of encouragement. The Scripture tells us to continue to encourage and build each other up. While it may seem trivial for this to be actual scripture, it is one of the most profound in my opinion. This is because one of the most important commandments from God is to love our neighbors. What better way to do this than by encouraging and building each other up? Not only should we do this to our neighbors, but especially to our leaders. We don’t know how much our words and gestures of encouragement mean to our leaders. Most times, they are pouring from empty vessels. So, let’s fill them back up by using our words to build, show kindness and compassion to all, and never forget that we all need each other to survive.

Prayer:
Father God, we thank You for Your grace and mercy. You continue to build us up and show us favor, just as we should for our fellow brothers and sisters. We ask that You continue to give us the wisdom to know how to encourage and build up the people, especially our leaders! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
