“Joy in Sorrow”
Scripture: Psalm 30:11-12
 
"Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever."

Devotion:
God has been my Joy in Sorrow.  He has been my joy in pain, loneliness and mourning. I can truly testify that without God in my life I don’t know where I would be. I am sitting on the plane heading to New York as I write, and I just want to shout Hallelujah! -- because when I think of His goodness and how He has comforted and provided for me, I can’t help but give Him praise, honor and glory! Believe me, I did praise Him in my seat. I am sure everyone reading this devotion can say that God has brought them through something, because we serve a God who can truly turn our mourning into dancing.

I am sure that as we read this devotion and Psalm, everyone can testify that God has brought them through something. We know that life will not always be easy, but we can be assured that no sorrow will last forever if we put it in God’s hands. We serve a God who can truly turn our mourning, our tough days into the dancing. When He brings us out of the dark, lonely, sad state that we are in, we must not forget to give Him praise for all that He has done.  We don’t even have to wait till the battle is over, we can “Shout now!” We can praise Him during our storm because we know and have faith that He will bring us out.

Prayer:
Lord, we Thank You for being the God who turns our mourning into dancing. You see our pain, but You don’t leave us in it. You lift us up, clothe us with gladness, and put a new song in our hearts.  You are an Awesome God.  Help us to remember that joy is coming even when we are going through sad times. Let my life be a testimony of Your goodness.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
