"Joy in God Alone"
 Scripture: Habakkuk 3:17-18
 
"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation."

Devotion:
We all experience times in our lives when we feel as if we are experiencing a drought.  The cupboards or cabinets, as we say today, may be bare; the refrigerator may be empty, we may be between paychecks or emotionally drained.  Habakkuk painted a picture for us of bleakness in this Scripture; and just as he did, we must find the strength to rejoice in the Lord even during not so pleasant times. It’s easy to praise God when everything is going well, but we show real faith in God when we can praise Him when things fall apart. When we can rejoice in God despite loss, or despair, as believers, we show Him that we trust in Him.  We gain greater faith as we go through these times.  Our God is an awesome and on-time God who loves and cares for us.  He will bring us out right on time.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank and praise You just for who You are.  Help us to find joy in You even when things we desire are not available for us, knowing that You will provide everything that we need, and You alone are more than enough.  You are our strength, our salvation and all our hope is in You.  In Jesus’ name. Amen
