“Rejoice in His Goodness”
Scripture: Psalm 118:24

"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

Devotion:
When reading this Psalm, it brought back memories of how we would sing this hymn during morning worship very often. “This is the day that the Lord has Made” reminds us that every day is a gift from God. Not just the easy days or the holidays, but this very day and whatever it holds.

In Psalm 118, it says that the writer had been through adversity, opposition, and fear. Yet, he still chose to rejoice. Why? Because God's love and faithfulness are bigger than the circumstances that he faced on any given day.

We are often encouraged to embrace the present, reminding ourselves not to wait for life to be flawless before we rejoice. The Scripture says we will rejoice, not possibly or eventually, but certainly. We are to be joyful daily, instead of lying in our beds waiting for things to be as we desire. Sometimes we desire for the sun to shine brightly, however we must remember that God made the clouds, rain, and storms as well.  We must continue to encourage ourselves in the Lord, knowing that He is in control, and He will carry us through the day(s) when life may seem hard and uncertain. His unending love is with us no matter the circumstances. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for this wonderful day that You have made. Help us to rejoice in it, not because everything is perfect, but because You are present in it.  Let us take in the beauty and all the blessings around us. Give us grateful hearts and spirits that find joy in You, even when life is uncertain. We don’t want to waste this day waiting for a better one. We thank You that we can rejoice in the now, because You are with us and Your love Never fails. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
