“For the Sake of the Call!”
Scripture: Colossians 3:15, NLT

“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”

Devotion:
My mother introduced me to contemporary gospel as a young child, because she was a teenager herself. One of the groups that was on repeat was a group called “Anointed.” They had a song entitled “The Call.” Part of the lyrics of the song says, “For the sake of the call, I am laying down my all. No turning back, moving straight ahead. Stay on the right path, and risk all for the sake of the call.” As I reflect on today’s text, these lyrics come to mind. It is imperative that we allow God’s peace to rule and reign in our lives. It’s not a right but a privilege. Since we are all working towards the same goal, living a life that is pleasing to God, we must remember to keep our calling in mind. And since we are all members of one body, someone is depending on us to be in place. If peace rules our lives, then we will always be ready to risk all for the sake of the calling that God has given to all of us.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for sweet peace. Having confidence in You is a comforting feeling. You always have our best interests in mind. Continue to remind us to never forget that You are never far from us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
