“Work with Passion”
Scripture: Romans 12:11, NLT

"Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically."
 
Devotion:
This verse is a wake-up call that we are to live our lives with faith and intention. God doesn’t call us to be passive, but He wants us to be enthusiastic, full of energy, commitment, and joy when serving Him.

Whether we’re working a job, raising our children, helping a neighbor, or volunteering in church, God wants us to bring passion to what we do. Not just because we “have to,” but because our hearts are grateful for all that He has done. And, because life happens, enthusiasm doesn’t always come naturally, because life can drain us. That’s why Paul reminds us in this Scripture not to get lazy. The laziness he speaks of does not only refer to physical, but also spiritual laziness. To keep the fire burning in us, we must stay connected to Christ every day through reading, prayer, and applying His Word. Galatians 6:9 encourages perseverance during times of fatigue or discouragement; it reads, “And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” – We should also be intentional about encouraging our brothers and sisters in Christ when we see them losing their enthusiasm.

Prayer:
Father, we thank You for calling us to serve You with joy and passion. Forgive us for the times when we have grown lazy and complacent and let routine, discouragement, or distractions steal our energy. Help us to stay fueled by Your Spirit and to do our work, both big and small, with enthusiasm for You.  Let our hearts show our love for You through every task that we perform. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
