“Bless the Work of Our Hands”
 Scripture: Psalm 90:17

"And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."

Devotion:
This Psalm is a prayer from Moses for God’s blessing on His endeavors. It lets us know that while we work hard, it is the favor of God that brings success. It is because of His grace resting on us that the tasks we perform have positive impacts.

The phrase “Establish the work of our hands,” means more than just finishing tasks; it means that God makes our work stand firm, meaningful, and fruitful. We have to remember to depend on God’s presence in our daily activities, asking Him to guide, bless and let everything that we put our hands to do have purpose.

I can recall many occasions in life when I have asked God for His direction; whether in the grocery store shopping, raising my children or at my job, when working on projects.  We have to acknowledge God in everything that we do. In 1 Corinthians 3:7 we are reminded by these words, “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” Remember, without Christ by our side, even our best efforts can have poor outcomes or be short-lived.

Prayer:
Lord, we ask for Your favor to rest upon us and all that we do. Help us to rely on Your grace, knowing that without You, the tasks that we perform lack substance. May the work that we do reflect Your goodness and be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
