Daily Devotional - The Work Continues - WK33 - 8/13/25 - Day 225 - "Look At Me"

“Look at Me!”
Scripture: Colossians 3:23, NKJV

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,”

Devotion:
Have you ever encountered someone who seemed to always do things whenever other people were looking? They constantly wait for the verbal praise that comes from others who witness their words or actions. A friend of mine came up with the term, “Look at me spirit.” It’s a person who doesn’t operate from the heart but rather from how many people will see what they are saying or doing. It’s like they are saying, “look at me!” There’s no sincerity in it at all. Today’s Scripture touches on this heavily, but in a simple way. Whatever we do for God and for the kingdom, let’s make sure we do it for God to be pleased and not for men to be pleased. How simple yet profound this statement is. In a world where we get upset when others don’t call our names, or do things and film it to see how many people will pat us on the back. Whatever happened to just doing it so that God can smile? Let’s remember that only what we do for Christ will last, and any time we find ourselves in a situation where we feel a “look at me” spirit coming on, remember that it’s God we are trying to please and not others. After all, what comes from the heart, touches the heart.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for giving us the ability to hold ourselves accountable. Help us to keep You as our focus in whatever we say or do, so that You will be pleased and glorified. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
