“Rejoice in Hope”
Scripture: Romans 12:12

“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”

Devotion:
In today’s scripture, Paul is admonishing the people of God to do three things. First, he tells them to rejoice in their hope. Our hope is built up, wrapped up, and tied up in our faith in God and His plans for our lives. We can rejoice because we know that God has given us the victory through Jesus. Second, Paul says, be patient in tribulation. That means when we go through, we rely on our faith in God, knowing that He can and will bring us out stronger and better than when we went into the battle. We will be like Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego; when we leave the fiery furnace, we won’t smell like smoke. Finally, Paul tells the people of God to continue constantly in prayer. In order to remain strong in our faith, we must constantly communicate with God. Prayer has to be a way of life, not a strategy used just in times of need. The Word of God lets us know we should pray without ceasing. That means everyday I should commune with God through prayer throughout my day. We should seek His face and direction to lead us throughout our day. I am a witness that when I start my day in prayer and in my Word no matter what comes my way, I am a lot stronger.

Prayer:
Lord, help us rejoice in our hope in You. Help us be patient in times of trouble, and to seek Your face through prayer constantly. Amen.
