"Joy In Obedience”
Scripture: Acts 8:39 (KJV)

“And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”

Devotion:
There is a deep and lasting joy that comes from obeying the voice of the Lord. In Acts 8:39, we read about a powerful encounter between Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. After hearing the good news of Jesus, the eunuch believed and was baptized immediately. As soon as he came up out of the water, Philip was taken away by the Spirit — but the eunuch didn’t mourn his absence. Instead, he went on his way rejoicing.

This passage reminds us that joy doesn’t come from people or circumstances alone. True joy comes when we respond in faith to the message of Christ. God still calls us today to obey His voice, to follow where He leads, and to find our joy not in the temporary, but in the eternal. When we surrender and say yes to Him, we, too, can go on our way rejoicing — no matter what changes around us.

Prayer:
Thank You for the joy that follows obedience. Teach me to rejoice in Your salvation daily, and give me the courage to walk forward in obedience and peace. May my life reflect the joy of someone who has encountered You deeply. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
