“Peaceful Unity”
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13:11, KJV

“Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.”
 
Devotion:
Paul wrote today’s Scripture as a conclusion to his letter to the church in Corinth. His message of unity and peace is one that should still resonate with us today. As the church, we represent the Body of Christ, so unity and peace are not options, they are a must. I believe when Jesus gave the Great Commission to His disciples, He did it with the widespread intent of there being unity among the souls saved and redeemed back to God. According to Google, there are about 2.4 billion Christians in the world, which represents about a third of the world's population. Based on those statistics, we should definitely see more love and unity and a greater kingdom impact in this world, right? Jesus gave us the greatest example of love, selflessness, and grace. I believe that when we reach a spiritual place where we love as Jesus loved—unfocused on ourselves, unoffended, undistracted, and unconcerned with others' opinions—we can walk in peace, love, and unity with everyone. They literally called Jesus out of His name, beat Him, and crucified Him on a cross. Yet, His words were, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” If we really want to make a kingdom impact and stomp on that old nasty stinking devil’s head, we need to be able to see that this battle is not one of flesh and blood, but a spiritual one. The big picture above us, or anything else. is to see God’s will done on earth by walking in obedience to the purpose He has for us. That means instead of having to be right, matching energy, or being vengeful, we need to say, Father, forgive them so that we can live in peace, unity, and love.

Prayer:
Lord, help us! Help us to truly love like You love, walk in peace like You walked in peace, give like You gave. Above all, help us crucify our flesh daily so Your spirit lives in us the more. Amen.
