“Think On These Things”
Scripture: Philippians 4:8 KJV and AMP
 
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (KJV)

“Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].” (AMP)

Devotion:
Our brain is the center of our lives - some may argue it’s the heart; however, what tells the heart to beat? You got it, the brain. The brain at the center of our lives can be a good or bad thing. We can gain knowledge from a child even throughout our adult life; however, this brain also remembers the bad things and the traumas we sometimes suffer.

This is where today’s Scripture comes in. Paul is telling the church to focus on the good things of God. He gave them a specific list:
1. True – we know the world is full of “truths” but we know there is only one Truth - the Word of God.
2. Honest – Integrity sometimes comes at a high cost, but not so in the eyes of God. He wants us to be of good character and uphold what is right.
3. Just – God wants us to be fair to all.
4. Pure – The gates to our soul must be guarded – our eyes, ears, and hearts.
5. Lovely – Take a moment to admire the beauty of God’s creation. I was just at home in Mississippi and, while walking, I was able to just listen to the birds singing and the sounds of nature. We have to take time to appreciate what God has created.
6. Good Report – Focus your mind on those things which are right in the sight of the Lord. Don’t lose sight of what is to be admired.
7. Virtue and Praise – Remember the good and remember who is worthy of our praise – God!

This Scripture reminds us of all that we need to override the brain’s way of thinking. We have the ability to focus on the things of God. I am not saying that we won’t remember the headaches and heartaches, but when we think on the good things of God, He will strengthen us! Think on these things!!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the good things. We know that each and every day will bring new things and not all are good; however, we ask that You help us to focus on the good things of Philippians 4:8 in order to be strong in Your might. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
