"Examine My Heart, O God!"
Scripture: Psalm 139:23-24

"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Devotion:
In this Psalm, David prays to God asking Him to search his heart.  He turned to God because he knew that God had knowledge of his innermost thoughts.  He wanted God to make him aware of anything that he may be feeling or thinking that was not pleasing to Him.  Why, because he wanted to be lead in the way everlasting.

If we want to be lead in the path of eternal life with our Lord and Savior, we must also acknowledge that we need God’s help and guidance. Yes, it may be some things in our past that we have to let go of, or sacrifices and changes in our lifestyles that we must make.  But as soldiers in God’s army we are to strive for better. We can’t allow the enemy to distract us with all that is going on in the world today. We serve a powerful and all-knowing God who is able to calm our fears and anxieties.  He knows what we have gone through and what lies ahead. God loves us and He wants us to cast all of our cares on Him.  Let’s take the time to pray and seek the Lord, asking that He search our hearts and cleanse us of anything within us that is displeasing to Him.

Prayer:
Father we pray that You will search our hearts.  Show us the things that we have done and thoughts that we need to repent of.  Help us to trust You and open our hearts to You, not holding back. We ask that You will renew our minds with Your words so that we can walk in the abundant life that You have planned for us. In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen
