Daily Devotional - Reflection: Lest We Forget - WK18 - 5/2/25 - Day 122 - "A Coming to Jesus Moment"

“A Comin’ to Jesus Moment”
Scripture: James 4:7 NLT

“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Devotion:
In my job experience, there have been countless times in which I had to have a “comin’ to Jesus moment” with my students. These “heated discussions” were used as ways to admonish them to do the right thing, especially when a majority of them were “falling by the wayside,” so to speak. It was as if all the expectations that I had taught them were going into one ear and out of the other. Basically, they needed to be put back in check. At the end of these discussions, I always would leave them with a small task or mission to help re-center them. In today’s passage, James had a “comin’ to Jesus moment” with the church. It was as if they had forgotten all that God had instructed them to do. Even though he had to “go off” he made sure to give them a small but impactful mission; simply to stay humble before God, and resist the devil. We don’t have to fight the enemy at all. Just say no and he will leave. Keep that in your back pocket brothers and sisters. That small mission has a huge impact on our success at being people after God’s own heart.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for sending us countless reminders on how we should live. You have given us the ultimate plan for success; to stay humble before You and to resist the devil. We know that our success lies in us executing this plan. We thank You because You do all things well. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
