“Shine on Me”
Scripture: Psalm 80:19 NLT

“Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.”

Devotion:
There was a popular show called “Amen” that I used to watch growing up. I remember the theme song so vividly because it was sung by one of my aunt’s favorite gospel artists, Vanessa Bell Armstrong. In the theme song, they said, “Turn on the light from heaven Lord, shine on me, help me find my way Lord, shine on me.” This particular verse of Scripture reminds me of that song. The writer here is pleading with God to shine His bright light on their lives so they can find their way. The irony of it all is that God’s light never stopped shining. The issue then is how did the people miss the light? The answer to that question is the guilt and shame that comes along with sin. It makes us think we are far from God when in reality, He was there all the time. Brothers and Sisters don’t think for one minute that God’s light is not shining bright. All you have to do is look up and He will ALWAYS help you find your way! Let Him continue to shine on each of us in everything we do!

Prayer:
Thank You Lord for Your everlasting light! Even when we feel so far from You and in a dark place, it’s Your light that brings salvation. Lord, please continue to help us find our way back to You no matter what! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
