Daily Devotional - Hospitality: Greeted, Seated, Treated - WK17 - 4/26/25 - Day 116 - "Hospitality God's Way"

“Hospitality God’s Way”
Scripture: Matthew 25:35-36 NKJV

“for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;  I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.”

Devotion:
After reading this Scripture, I began to think of the many people who I failed to help because I was either busy or didn’t care. For that, I say, Lord, I’m sorry. Have you ever asked the Lord to forgive you for not caring enough about the needs of others? If not, now is a good time to do so.

Yes, we all have busy lives, but just as Jesus teaches His disciples about service, He’s teaching us as well. When we serve others, we are serving Him. We probably don’t look at it that way, but that’s what Jesus teaches. We can’t be so busy that we don’t make time to care for the least of these. We must move beyond the mindset of only caring for ourselves and a small circle, embracing a heart that welcomes and helps others. Jesus reminds us that what we’ve done to the least of these, we’ve done to Him. Matthew 25:40.

As we come to an end of our Hospitality series, I pray that through the words of Jesus, we’ve learned that caring for others is showing the kind of love that Christ has for us. It's easy to overlook people who are struggling, but God calls us to see them through His eyes—to offer kindness without hesitation. These small acts of service may seem ordinary, but in God’s kingdom, they carry eternal significance. Every time we give, love, or serve, we honor Jesus Himself.

Action Step:
Find a way today to serve someone in need—whether through a meal, a kind word, or simply offering your time. Remember, in every act of love, you are serving Jesus.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to love others as You love them. Give me a heart that sees needs and hands willing to serve. May I always reflect Your kindness in the way I treat others. Amen.
