“Sharing is Caring”
Scripture: Romans 12:13, NIV
 
“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

Devotion:
What does it mean to be hospitable to those in need? Do we show kindness? Are we friendly? Selfless? Compassionate? Everything that we have is a gift from God. God is our ultimate source. The Word of God lets us know it is better to give than to receive. Growing up, I had to learn this for myself because I grew up in a large family, and I didn’t always want to share what I had. Instead, I held tightly to my things, ironically they didn’t last long. You see, God let me know if my hand was closed to give, it was also closed to receive from Him as well. As God's children, we are called to be loving and compassionate, helping those in need whenever possible. We can give our time, talent, and our treasure. We don’t have to be rich to be charitable. It could be something as simple as a meal, a kind word of encouragement or prayer. We draw others to God by allowing His light to be reflected in our lives through acts of service, love, and kindness. Every now and then, we have to do a heart check to make sure that God’s love is shining from within us for others to outwardly see.

Prayer:
God, help us practice hospitality to those who are in need. Help us make sure we are showing Your light and love in how we treat our brothers and sisters daily. Amen.
