“Justice Over Sacrifice”            
Scripture: Proverbs 21:3

“To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”

Devotion:
In Proverbs 21:3, the writer of Proverbs shares a powerful truth: "To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice." This verse challenges the notion that outward acts of religious observance—such as sacrifices, offerings, or rituals—can replace a heart that seeks true justice and fairness. God is making it clear that He values righteousness, justice, and right judgment more than external acts of worship that lack true obedience and integrity. True justice, in this context, is about doing what’s right in God's eyes, treating others with fairness, compassion, and respect, and standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. It means that, instead of merely performing religious duties, we are called to live with integrity, honor, and a commitment to what is just.

This verse also reminds us that God looks at the heart. It is not enough to offer sacrifices if our hearts are not right with Him. God values our hearts of justice and mercy more than the actions we try to "earn" His favor. It’s about living in such a way that reflects His heart for righteousness, fairness, and love. True worship is not about what we do on the outside, but the transformation of our hearts. When we choose justice over sacrifice, we align ourselves with God's heart and bring honor to His name. Let us be people who live out the righteousness of God, in both our actions and our hearts.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank You that You are a God of justice, fairness, and mercy. Help me to do justice and live with integrity in all my relationships and decisions. May my actions reflect Your heart, and may I always choose righteousness over ritual. Teach me to love justice as You do and to seek Your will above all else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
