“Deep Down Praise”
Scripture: Jonah 2:9

“But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.”

Devotion:
In today’s Scripture, we find Jonah praying from the belly of the great fish, in the depths of the sea. One might say Jonah was up a creek…pun intended. Amid this life-threatening situation, Jonah’s heart shifts from fear and despair to one of thanksgiving. He boldly declares, “Salvation is of the Lord.” Even in our most desperate moments, God is still the source of salvation. No matter the situation, God alone has the power to deliver us.

This verse also speaks of the importance of keeping our promises to God. Jonah acknowledges that he will "pay that that [he] hath vowed," a recognition that our commitments to God are not to be taken lightly. Even when life becomes difficult, God calls us to remain faithful to the vows we’ve made to Him, trusting that He will provide the strength to fulfill them. God is able to deliver us from the deepest pit, and our praise can be a powerful declaration of trust in His ability to save.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being the source of my salvation. Even when life is difficult and I feel overwhelmed, help me to look to You in faith and praise. I commit again to fulfill the promises I’ve made to You, trusting in Your timing and power. I give You thanks, Lord, for Your mercy and deliverance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
