Day 16 Thursday 3/20 - No Looking Back

Scriptural Reflection
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. - St. Luke 9:62

Devotional Thought
Looking back wanting to go back is not for the faithful. For the faith-filled looking back is only to see how far you’ve come! Jesus cautioned potential followers to make absolute certain that what they were about to commit to would be a lifetime commitment. He shared with them the hard truth of making the decision for discipleship comes with challenges and rewards, not either or, but both.

Stay focused! Be vigilant. Your unwavering focus and dedication in following Christ will be strength beyond measure. It’s not YOUR strength; it’s His. The metaphor of plowing suggests that, just as a plowman must look ahead to plow a straight line, a person following Jesus should not be easily distracted by the cares of this life. Remember, it’s only what you do for Christ that will last. Making a full commitment to the mission of God’s kingdom without hesitation or regret has great reward!
 
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Help me to fully commit my heart, mind, and actions to You. Remove any distractions that may pull me away from Your will, and give me the courage to stay focused on Your purpose for my life. I desire to follow You wholeheartedly, without hesitation or looking back. Help me to remain steadfast in my faith, even when the road is difficult or uncertain. Give me the perseverance to walk with You, no matter the challenges, and the wisdom to know when to let go of what holds me back. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
