Day 11 Saturday 3/15 - Share and Share Alike

Scriptural Reflection

And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. - Genesis 26:22

Devotional Thought
Talk about tenacity and optimism! Jacob was one who was bound and determined to make a difference. Not only for himself and his family but for his people. In so doing, he affected a whole nation and ultimately the world as we know it. He rose past the jealousy of the people around him because he saw the bigger picture. They had resources they didn’t even realize they had and Jacob had skills they needed but they were too ornery to admit it.

I think the biggest take away from this whole situation is this… when you are doing something that is going to be to the greater good of the majority don’t let a little minded minority prevent you from completing your assignment. Sometimes people don’t know what they really need. You can’t force them to it or force it on them, but don’t let them stop you from being obedient to God. If they never “come around” you will be clear with God.

In the case of Jacob, it took a while and a few attempts but in the end he got to Rehoboth. The Lord made room for them because he continued to sow where he wanted to go. He was not deterred by setbacks. Keep going! Sharing is caring. ?

Prayer
Heavenly Father help us to follow in Your example of selfless love and compassion. May we share not only our material possessions but also our time, our talents, our testimony and our love. Teach us to be mindful of those around us, to open our hearts to their needs, and to offer what we have with humility and joy. May we always seek to bless others as You have generously blessed us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. AMEN.
