Day 10 Friday 3/14 - Working Together Still Works

Scriptural Reflection
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. - Romans 12:3

Devotional Thought
There is always gong to be someone who thinks they are more talented than they really are and there is always going to be someone who does not give themselves enough credit. Either way the Apostle Paul urges believers to keep the main thing the main thing. Thinking soberly or sensibly means to not be affected by illusions of grandeur as well as to not be disillusioned with ideas of God having somehow made a mistake in qualifying the wrong person.

We are cautioned here to find balance; the delicate balance of humility and confidence. It is the responsibility of each individual. We have been given all the tools we need to experience spiritual success. It is also our responsibility to utilize what God has made available to us. I know nothing more humbling than the discovery of being sincere and sincerely wrong at the same time. The Roman Church was an interesting bunch of people. They were largely guilty of doing things their own way even after having been taught what was right. He brought it to their attention in hopes of getting them back on track. It’s been left on record to assist us today. It takes all of us working together and getting along to get the mission of the Gospel accomplished. It can’t happen if we are divided by everyone only concerned of what benefits them.

Prayer
Lord help me to not only see, but to do what I can to assist others by addressing the needs of my brothers and sisters. Help me to not be so blinded by high mindedness that I ignore what’s really important. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.
