Day 6 Monday 3/10 - Willingness to Serve

Scriptural Reflection

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. - Romans 12:1

Devotional Thought
My grandmother was known for writing nice notes/words of encouragement… just sweet thoughts at any given time, usually unexpected. She’d also remember EVERYONE’S birthday. Each card included her famous $2, occasionally more, but never nothing. Likewise, she didn’t expect to receive what she called a “dry card” (that was a card without a personal note and cash). She, on special occasions, when she was showered with cards, was very careful to open them so the “gift” wouldn’t fall out. If ever she got one with nothing in it she had absolutely no problem expressing her disappointment (up until the next birthday/anniversary if necessary). As far as she was concerned there was no reason to not expect us to not be as thoughtful and generous as she was toward us.

Reasonable service is the direct result of conscious action. When we truly appreciate who God is to us and who He allows us to become in Him our willingness to serve with a glad heart is inevitable. During this time of deeper reflection and introspection I want to challenge you (as I challenge myself) to PRESENT yourself more wholly to the only one who not only knows everything about us, but can do something about what He knows. When something is presented the expectation is that it is present and presentable. Let’s not offer to our Maker a “dry card”.

Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Teach me your ways. I want to know how to go in and out before your people. I desire to conduct myself in a way that represents You well. In Jesus' name. AMEN
