Day 3 Friday 3/7 - Reward and Rereward

Scriptural Reflection

For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward. - Isaiah 52:12

Devotional Thought
God gave the prophet the word to tell the people He had them fully covered. At the time of his delivery, they were in a situation (because of their own misdoings) of being exposed. Isaiah’s assignment was to let them know that their obedience to God would reverse their situation guaranteeing them a solid fortified army leading them under His guidance and protection. Secondly, God would offer Himself as additional covering by shielding them from the rear. Imagine hearing that you’ll have extra coverage after being uncovered for so long. Herein is a reminder to all of us - God can reverse anything but His Word!
 
Because of the recommitment and rededication to their first love they were completely restored and the time that they lost wandering was more than made up for. Nothing missing, nothing lacking, nothing broken.
 
Note: the difference between an award and a reward is this… an award is a prize or official payment or compensation merited; a reward is given in recognition of one’s service or achievement. The Justifier rewarded them, not because they deserved it but because He found them worthy.
 
Prayer
Lord thank you for helping me stay humble and appreciative of Your abundant grace. Keep me ever mindful that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek you.
