“Humble is the Way”
Scripture: Romans 12:3-5 KJV
 
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” 

Devotion: 
Pride comes before the fall. God hates selfish pride. Some people believe that old cliche that they pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps. They refuse to acknowledge God as the source of all of their blessings. The quickest way to fall, as seen by our one true, ugly, evil enemy, is to steal God’s glory. Every gift, ability, talent, and blessing comes from God. We don’t earn them, and we can never repay them. I want to pull three points out of today’s scripture. The first is we must be humble. Humbleness is the way. When we boast, it should be about the goodness of God, and not about our own strengths or abilities. The second is thinking soberly. Thinking soberly means we focus on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and good. We abstain from practices that lead to sin. Finally, we must serve others. Our gifts and talents are not to be hidden away. They are to be used for kingdom building purposes. God can’t pour into vessels that are too full of their own self-importance and greatness. God desires to fill us and use us for His glory, but we must be humble enough to obey Him and give Him complete control.

Prayer:
Lord, help us humbly submit to Your will for our lives. Take away selfish pride and help us walk in obedience to Your will for our lives. Amen.
